MrSID (pronounced Mister Sid) is an acronym that stands for multiresolution seamless image database. These files are used primarily for maps and especially aerial satellite photos. The unique feature of MrSID files is that they contain multiple scale and quality levels – something that is commonly needed as you zoom in and zoom out of a map display. However, if you are only going to display one zoom level – this file format is carrying more detail than you need.

This is where Contenta Converter PREMIUM can be a huge assist. Using Contenta Converter PREMIUM you can load a SID file and convert it to formats like JPG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, WBMP, PPM, PGM, PBM, XPM and ICO. I will demonstrate the quick and easy way to do this with Contenta Converter PREMIUM.

Step 1: Select your photos.

Click on the Add Photos button and select from your computer the .SID photos you wish to convert. Then click the ‘Next’ button.

Selecting SID files for conversion with Contenta Converter PREMIUM

Step 2: Configure the conversion job

Make sure the “Do convert to format” checkbox is checked and select the format. In this example we picked JPEG, but the drop down menu also gives you the choices for TIFF, JPEG 2000, PNG and more than a dozen other formats! You can also select a different output folder if you want to. This is the location where the files converted to PNG will be stored.

Select which format to convert to using Contenta Converter Premium

All done!

Click start and soon you will see the final screen and you will have your new JPG file!

Successful file conversion using Contenta Converter PREMIUM
