Converting Canon CRW files with Contenta Converter PREMIUM
Canon is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of digital cameras. Many Canon cameras can produce uncompressed CRW RAW photographs with the information stored exactly how it was captured by the camera’s sensor, with absolutely no compression or color adjustment. Contenta Converter PREMIUM currently supports pictures taken with the Canon PowerShot G1, Canon EOS D30, Canon PowerShot A710 IS and dozens more Canon cameras that can produce images in the CRW format. The quality of these images is fantastic, but frequently you will need to convert the Canon CRW format to a more common format like JPEG or TIFF.
We’ll show you the easy and pain free way to do this with Contenta Converter PREMIUM.
Step 1: Select your photos.
Click on the Add Photos button and select from your computer the .CRW photos you wish to convert. Then click the ‘Next’ button.
Step 2: Configure the conversion job
Make sure the “Do convert to format” checkbox is checked and select the format. In this example we picked JPEG, but the drop down menu also gives you the choices for TIFF, JPEG 2000, PDF and more than a dozen other formats! You can also select a different output folder if you want to. This is the location where the files converted to JPEG will be stored.
The program will default to preserve EXIF/IPTC/XMP metadatas which will preserve all the details about the photo – date it was taken, brand of camera used, model of camera used and much more detail. You can choose to turn this off to make the file a bit smaller or to hide any of that information. You can also choose to reduce the image size. In this example, we preserved the metadata but made no changes to the image size.
All done!
Click on start and moments later, you will see the final screen and you have your new JPEG files! Tip – We always suggest you save the original CRW files as these will have the best quality if you ever need to convert to other formats in the future.
